Alright yall, its finally here! I have been waiting to hear this one for awhile now. The SlumpFest battle was wild. I rolled out to Club Six with some of my folks and we repped pretty hard for the valley. The competition was not to be taken lightly though. Cats like Poetiq, Cache, and Self Uno as well as some I had not battled with before like Ion The Prize and Scalez. My Fresno folks K.P and Shon J were even in the house. Dj Phonic and Azreal came thru to the Caliwide Cen Cal Beat Battle and brought some c.d's with them. You could tell right away that these guys have some years under there belts. I remember being in high school (a long time ago) and wondering why there weren't any hip hop shows out here in Modesto I could really be happy about. My friends and I would cypher and talk about going to the Mystic Journeymen show or seeing the Earthlings perform. The thought of having a real hip hop scene in Modesto just seemed like a dream. As I grew a little older and got turntables, a couple of friends and I, started to Dj at a local bar. Even then, it was hard to gather enough solid heads to keep it moving. Cobalt has had ups and downs in this community. There has been some faulty shit that has had his name attached to it in previous years. Things can get distorted if you don't know the whole story, but, though all the trials, COBALT remains steady with his dedication to hip hop in Modesto. For this I give him praise. Many gave up on hip hop long ago. As a Dj I feel the weight. Do I play what people want to hear, what will make them dance. Popular music. Or do I stay true to my love. I respect COBALT for not only putting his money and time on the line, but, staying true to his love of the culture.

This is the first of the 3 preliminary battles that will be taking place in California for the Caliwide Beat Battle. We will be having 16 beat makers/producers battling against eachother elimination style for $100.00 and a placement into the large Caliwide Final battle for $500.00. The Cen-Cal battle will Feat. F.A.M.E ( Fresh Analog Music Experience ). They are a highly respected group of D.js, Musicians, and beat heads that wo...rk together to give a grand experience to there listeners. They will be playing everything LIVE. No computers. All analog!!!! Beat Club Co-Op, Vers Musik Group, and Crush Congregation have teamed up to bring you CALIWIDE BEAT BATTLE. There will be 3 Preliminary battles, 1 in Northern California, 1 in Central California, and 1 in Southern California. There will be 2 entries for each of these battles. The first and second place winners of each Preliminary battle will advance to the final battle. There will be 16 spots for each Preliminary battle. There will also be a chance to enter the final battle simply by filling out the online registration on this blog. Two people will be chosen from the online registration entries.
